Audrey's Disappearing Act
The Students' Vanishing Trick
As Audrey, the lovely and nerdy teacher, stepped into her classroom, she felt a sudden chill run down her spine. Her students were nowhere to be seen, and the feeling of unease only intensified as she called out their names. The silence was deafening, and it was clear that something was amiss.
Her heart racing, Audrey frantically searched the classroom, but there was no sign of her tiny troublemakers. She felt a twinge of anger building up inside her - had they gone to the principal's office? Or worse, had they played a prank on her again?
Feeling increasingly anxious, Audrey began pacing back and forth, her mind racing with possibilities. She couldn't shake the feeling that something sinister was at play. Suddenly, she heard a soft whisper coming from behind her. Turning around slowly, she saw her students peeking out from under their desks, their faces pale and wide-eyed.
Audrey's anger quickly gave way to confusion. "What are you doing under there?" she demanded, trying to keep her voice steady. The students didn't answer, their eyes darting around the room nervously. Something told Audrey that she wasn't going to like the answer.
Finally, one of the students timidly raised their hand. "We were hiding from the monster," they whispered. Monster? Audrey's heart skipped a beat. "What monster?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly. The students exchanged nervous glances before pointing behind her.
Turning around slowly, Audrey felt a chill run down her spine as she saw the reflection of herself in the classroom window. But it wasn't her reflection she saw - it was that of a hideous, towering monster. Its eyes were filled with rage, its mouth twisted into a snarl, and it was reaching out for her. Audrey screamed, dropping her bag and covering her face as the students scrambled to hide under their desks once again.
The rest of the day was a blur for Audrey. She spent most of it locked in her office, trying to process what she had seen. As she sat there, shaking and trembling, she couldn't help but wonder if her students had been right all along - was there really a monster stalking her? Or had the stress and tension of her job finally pushed her over the edge? Only time would tell.
