On the Edge of Her Seat
Ginger sat cross-legged on her bed, her eyes glued to her phone screen as she scrolled through emails and messages. She was a busy woman, running her own business and constantly on the go, but something about this latest missive made her heart skip a beat. It seemed an employee had shrunk himself and was now at her mercy, clinging to her sole in desperation.
She shook her head slowly, trying to clear the cobwebs of disbelief. This couldn't be happening—not right now, when she had so much to do. But as she imagined the tiny figure hanging on for dear life, she felt a strange mix of amusement and concern washing over her. With a deep breath, she stood up and began pacing around her room, her mind racing with possibilities.
What was the employee thinking? How did he manage to shrink himself? And more importantly, how was she supposed to find him? She couldn't go crawling around on her hands and knees looking for him—that would be undignified, not to mention potentially embarrassing. But as she thought about the tiny being who had somehow ended up at her feet, she felt a strange sense of responsibility washing over her.
Her phone buzzed again, interrupting her thoughts. She hesitated for a moment before answering, half-expecting to hear the shrunken employee's voice on the other end. Instead, it was a colleague checking in about an upcoming meeting. She couldn't help but feel a twinge of annoyance as she hung up the call, the irritating insect still plastered to her sole.
She spent the next few minutes lost in thought, her mind wandering to all the possibilities that lay ahead. Would she be able to find the employee and return him to normal size? Or would she be forced to make a decision about his fate, all while feeling the weight of his presence on her sole?
