She lowers him back to the ground, his legs shaking beneath him. "You must earn it," she says, her voice a husky whisper. "You must show me that you are worthy of my gift."
With a flick of her wrist, the wooden tray transforms into a gleaming metal contraption, its sharp blades glinting in the sunlight. The petiteys gasp, their eyes wide with horror.
"What are you going to do?" one of them whispers, his voice trembling.
"You'll see," Alexa says, her voice darkening. "You'll all see."
And with that, she lunges forward, snatching up another petitey in her massive hand. He screams as she raises him high above her head, his tiny body dangling helplessly.
