In the middle of the night, Alexis awoke with a start, his heart pounding. He'd been having the same dream again, the one where Lily grew and grew, towering over him until he was nothing more than a tiny speck in her giant gaze. The warmth of her breath on his skin sent shivers down his spine, and despite the terror, he found himself aroused by the power she exuded. He tried to shake off the image, but it lingered in his mind, refusing to fade away.
With a deep sigh, Alexis rolled over and reached out to find his phone on the nightstand. It was just past midnight, and he knew he shouldn't be waking Lily up, but he needed to talk to someone. He dialed her number, and after a few rings, she picked up groggily, her voice still thick with sleep.
"Hey, baby," she mumbled. "What's wrong?"
"Oh, Lily, I'm so glad you answered," Alexis breathed, his voice trembling with emotion. "I had the dream again, and I can't seem to shake it off. I need you."
There was a long pause on the other end of the line as Lily processed his request. Finally, she sighed and said softly, "I'm coming over. Give me ten minutes."
As he hung up the phone, Alexis felt a wave of relief wash over him. Lily was coming to him; she would make everything better. He climbed back into bed, trying to still the pounding of his heart as he waited for his love to arrive.
A few minutes later, a soft knock sounded on the door, and Alexis' heart leapt into his throat. He hurried to open it, pulling Lily inside and closing the door behind her. She stood before him, tall and beautiful even in the pale moonlight streaming through the window. Her skin glowed with a warm, inviting light, and he couldn't help but feel drawn to her.
"Are you okay, baby?" She asked softly, reaching out to touch his cheek. "You look scared."
Alexis pressed himself against her, seeking comfort in her warmth. "I had the dream again," he whispered. "I need you to make it go away."
Lily wrapped her arms around him, feeling his shivers run through him. "I'll always be here for you," she promised. "I'll never let anything hurt you."
She led him to the bed, sitting down with him and pulling him onto her lap. She ran her hands through his hair, whispering soothing words as she rubbed his back. Gradually, Alexis' tension started to ease, and he felt himself drifting off to sleep once again, this time in the safety of Lily's arms.
As the first rays of dawn began to filter through the curtains, Lily gently set Alexis down on the bed, tucking him in. She watched as he settled into the sheets, his breathing deep and even. With a soft sigh, she stood up and made her way to the door, casting one last look over her shoulder at the sleeping form on the bed before she quietly let herself out.
Outside, the sun was just starting to rise, casting long shadows across the floor. Lily took a deep breath, feeling exhausted but satisfied. She had been there for Alexis when he needed her most, and that was all that mattered. As she made her way down the hallway, she couldn't help but feel a growing sense of affection for the man she loved. No matter what happened, she knew she would always be there to protect him, to hold him close, and to make sure he never felt alone again.
Their bond was ever growing, stronger with each passing day. And as long as they were together, nothing could ever tear them apart.
