"Answer me!" she roared, shaking him slightly. The little man whimpered, unsure of what she would do next. Suddenly, Cassandra's expression softened, and she let out a slow breath. She lowered him back to the ground, her eyes never leaving his terrified gaze.
"I think I'll let you live... for now," she whispered, her words sending shivers down his spine. With that, she turned on her heel and walked back to her desk, leaving the little man shaking and trembling where she'd left him.
From that day forward, Cassandra's life took on a newfound intensity. Each day was a constant reminder of the power she wielded over the helpless little creatures that shared her world.
