Dr. Carter felt a knot forming in her stomach. She knew she was out of her depth, out of her league. She had stumbled onto something much bigger than she ever imagined, and now she was powerless to stop it.

The man's gaze bored into her, his intensity unsettling. "I trust you will continue your work, Dr. Carter," he said, his voice cold and commanding. "I expect to see significant progress in the coming weeks."

With that, he turned and left the lab, leaving Dr. Carter alone with her thoughts and the looming shadow of what lay ahead.
