Lasuenpe - Brat's Boardwalk

As the sun began to set, the vibrant colors of the pier melted into a warm glow that cast a nostalgic ambiance over the entire Boardwalk. The salty sea breeze carried the sound of laughter and joy from the throngs of people enjoying the rides, games, and attractions. It was an idyllic summer day in this quaint coastal town, full of memories just waiting to be made.

Amongst the crowds of families and couples strolling along the wooden planks, one girl stood out from the rest. Her name was Natalie, though most people here simply called her the Brat. She was a petite, fiery redhead with eyes that flashed like emeralds whenever she was angry or upset. And she seemed to be perpetually angry or upset about something.

The Brat had grown up here on the Boardwalk, living in a small apartment above her parents' souvenir shop. She'd spent most of her summers on these very planks, playing games and riding the rides with her friends. But as she got older, things changed. The other kids grew tired of her temper and constant demands for attention, leaving her feeling isolated and bitter.

Now, at 19 years old, the Brat still roamed the Boardwalk, but with a newfound purpose. She was determined to get back at everyone who'd ever wronged her—starting with her parents, who she blamed for ruining her life by forcing her to work in their store when she could be out having fun with her friends.

She stood there, hands on her hips, glaring at the people passing by. She hated this place, hated her life, and most of all, hated being stuck here with no way out. Her eyes drifted towards the Ferris wheel in the distance, its lights twinkling like stars against the darkening sky. She'd always loved that Ferris wheel, but now it seemed like a cruel reminder of how trapped she felt.

Suddenly, she heard someone calling her name. Reluctantly, she turned around to see a group of her old friends from childhood walking towards her. They hesitated when they saw the look on her face, but eventually mustered up enough courage to approach her.

"Hey Nat," one of them said nervously. "We just wanted to see if you wanted to hang out or something. It's been a while."

The Brat scoffed, crossing her arms under her chest defiantly. "Yeah, well, I'm kind of busy right now," she said, glancing back at the Ferris wheel longingly. "Besides, what do you guys even want from me? You all abandoned me years ago."

The others exchanged awkward glances, not sure how to respond to her bitter outburst. But before they could say anything, a tall, muscular figure approached them from behind. He towered over them, his broad shoulders casting a shadow across the planks beneath their feet.

"Well, well," he said, his voice deep and commanding. "What do we have here?"

The Brat turned around slowly, her eyes widening in shock as she recognized him. It was Chad, the popular jock from high school who'd always been too good for her. He'd barely given her the time of day back then, and now here he was, standing before her with a smirk on his face.

"Chad?" she stammered, trying to keep her composure. "What are you doing here?"

He chuckled, running a hand through his dark hair. "Well, aren't you just full of surprises?" he said, his eyes raking over her petite form. "I heard you were back in town, and I figured I'd come see for myself if the rumors were true."

The Brat felt a wave of anger wash over her at his arrogance. "What rumors?" she spat, her hands clenching into fists at her sides. "That I'm some sort of freak who nobody wants to be around? Is that it?"

Chad laughed again, shaking his head. "Oh, come on, Nat," he said, using the nickname she hated almost as much as being called the Brat. "Don't be like that. You know you've always had a thing for me."

The Brat's eyes narrowed, her temper flaring. "I'll show you what I'll show you!" She shouted, balling her fists and charging towards him.

Chad let out a laugh, easily dodging her punches. He grabbed her by the wrists, lifting her off the ground as he spun her around. "Calm down, sweetheart," he said, his voice still holding a hint of amusement. "We don't want to hurt each other now, do we?"

The Brat struggled against his grip, her anger fueling her strength. But no matter how hard she fought, she couldn't break free from his grasp. Finally, she gave up, dropping her arms to her sides and glaring up at him.

"Let me go!" she demanded, her voice shaking with rage.

"Not yet," Chad replied, his eyes locked on hers. "I have a proposal for you."

The Brat scoffed again, rolling her eyes. "What do you want, Chad?"

"I want you to come with me," he said, his voice dropping to a low murmur. "Just for tonight. We can have some fun, just like old times. And maybe, just maybe, I'll let you go after that."

The Brat hesitated, her mind whirling with conflicting emotions. On one hand, she hated Chad with a passion. On the other hand, the thought of getting back at everyone who'd ever wronged her was strangely appealing.

"What do I have to do?" she asked finally, her voice trembling slightly.

Chad grinned, releasing her wrists and stepping back. "Nothing much," he said, extending a hand towards her. "Just come with me, and let's see where the night takes us."

The Brat stared at his hand for a moment, her heart racing with anticipation and fear. Then, slowly, she reached out and took his hand, allowing him to lead her away from the Boardwalk and into the darkness beyond.
