A moment of silence passed between them before he broke it by clearing his throat. "So, uh, do you want to come out and play?" he asked, gesturing towards the yard. "I was thinking we could play some catch or something."

Scarlett hesitated for a moment, glancing over her shoulder towards the house. Her parents were probably watching television in the living room, completely oblivious to the moment she was sharing with her crush. She took a deep breath and nodded, stepping out onto the porch with him.

The sun was setting in the sky, casting long shadows across the yard. They found a spot where they could have some privacy and started to play catch. He threw the ball gently at first, but as they continued, he started to throw it harder and faster. She laughed as she tried to catch up to his throws.

He looked up at her, his eyes wide with surprise. "Really?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper. "You mean that?"

She nodded, feeling butterflies take flight in her stomach. "Yes," she said, meeting his gaze. "I really mean it."

They stared at each other for what seemed like an eternity, their hearts beating wildly in their chests. Suddenly, he leaned forward and kissed her softly on the lips. She closed her eyes and wrapped her arms around him, losing herself in the moment as they shared their first kiss.
