The Long Month

Rachel woke up early that morning, feeling restless and feverish. She had been looking forward to her month-long vacation in Hawaii for so long, but now she couldn't help but feel anxious. Perhaps it was the tropical storm warning that had been issued the night before, or maybe it was something else entirely. She got out of bed and padded over to the window, looking out at the grey sky and the churning ocean. The waves looked huge from her vantage point high up in the hotel room. She shivered and wrapped her bathrobe tighter around herself.

As the morning wore on, Rachel began to feel a bit better. She decided to take a long, hot shower to wash away her worries. She turned on the water and adjusted the temperature, stepping under the powerful spray. The warmth enveloped her, and she closed her eyes, letting the water run over her body. Suddenly, she felt a strange sensation. At first, she thought it was just the water pressure, but then she realized that it was something else entirely. The water seemed to be flowing upwards, and she felt herself being lifted off her feet.

Panic set in as Rachel tried to grab onto the shower walls, but they were slippery and offered no purchase. She felt herself being drawn higher and higher, her head now sticking out of the showerhead. She tried to scream, but no sound came out. Then, just as suddenly as it had begun, the sensation stopped. Rachel collapsed onto the bathroom floor, gasping for breath.

When she finally managed to catch her breath, she sat up and looked around. Everything seemed normal, but she couldn't shake the feeling that something odd had just happened. She decided to ignore it and get dressed, hoping that the rest of her vacation would be more enjoyable.

Later that evening, Rachel met up with her friends for dinner. They were all excited to be on vacation, and they chatted animatedly about their plans for the week ahead. Rachel tried to join in, but she couldn't help but feel disconnected from the conversation. It wasn't until they were ordering drinks that she realized why. Everyone else seemed to be drinking normal-sized drinks, but hers was huge – the size of a water bottle. She smiled awkwardly and picked it up, feeling its weight in her hand.

As they continued to eat and chat, Rachel couldn't help but notice that everything seemed to be getting bigger around her. The portions of food were enormous, and even the people at the neighboring tables looked larger than usual. She tried to ignore it, but it was becoming more and more difficult.

Finally, she couldn't take it anymore. "Guys," she said, grabbing their attention, "I think something's wrong with me." They looked at her, a mixture of concern and amusement on their faces. "I feel like I'm growing," she continued, "and everything else around me is too. It's like I'm in a giant's world or something."

Her friends exchanged glances before bursting out laughing. "Rachel, you've had too much to drink," one of them said, patting her on the back. "You're just seeing things." But Rachel couldn't shake the feeling. She excused herself from the table and went to the bathroom, locking herself in a stall.

She looked down at her hands, noticing that they seemed larger than before. A moment later, she felt herself growing taller. Her head hit the ceiling of the stall, and she gasped in pain. She tried to control it, but it was no use. She was growing, and there was nothing she could do about it.

When she finally emerged from the stall, her friends were nowhere to be seen. Panic set in as she realized that she was alone in the restaurant. She tried to call for help, but her voice was deep and booming. People turned to look at her, their eyes wide with fear.

Rachel knew then that she was truly alone. She had to find a way to control her newfound size or face the consequences. With a sigh, she turned and walked out of the restaurant, her giantess form looming over the city like a colossus.
